I chose to speak on violence because even though I had great parents that was well known in the community, My father as a youth counselor and my mom for feeding the needy my parents were not living in the same household. My mother allowed her younger brother to live with us, he was a member of a gang called gangster disciples. The community in which we lived was located on the far east side of Chicago and was directly across the tracks from his gang rivalry which was the Latin dragons. One one particular summer we were in the house waiting in line for watermelon and gun shots begin to hit the wall, my mother pulled us all to the floor as we were literally frozen from shock. No one was heart but it started a war between them and the gang my uncle was in. It went on for what seem like forever. They kicked our door in and trashed our house when no one was home, for two weeks straight we had to use the window as a door to leave in and out of (living in the basement was a blessing this time). One of the most traumatizing moments for me was being waken in the middle of the night by my mothers scream, so I ran out to see what was wrong and there she was holding one of my uncle close friends saying call the police, but i couldn't i was in shock. Thanks to someone else the ambulance was there in what seem like seconds, but once my mother finally got me to move I realized i had been standing in a puddle of blood the whole time. Shortly after this me and my siblings went to live with my dad, he actually stayed on the side with the rivalry gang but he was not affiliated with no gangs so it was safe for use there. I want to say coming up I may have portrayed some violent activities as a result of living through it, but it also made me strive harder to be a better person and help those children whom may be experiencing what I did or similar situations. I remember being scared at night not knowing what I will wake up to. This also helps me nurture the way I do because we as caregivers may never know what a child is going through at home. LATIN GANGS is very known all over the country they are known for owning territory, their violent actions, drug affiliation as well as grooming their children to be just like them this includes the girls and the boys no discrimination. I met a young girl whom name I wont mention she was enrolled in my program at 12 years of age, this young lady had already had a tear drop tattoo under her left eye. She has moved here from Mexico because both her parents had been set of fire as a result in gang retaliation. She was force to come move with her aunt, this young lady had ran away as soon as she got here and tried to get back to mexico, her aunt and reported the violent acts she had against her cousins and even had taught one of them a gang related sign to throw up when being photographed. This young lady did not believe anything was wrong with the way she was taught because this is how she was raised, a person bumped into the aunt in the grocery store and before the person could apologize the young lady had already grabbed them she was taught to react in such a way by her parents. The effect bio social comes into effect because this young lady does not know how to react socially in public without being in control or demanding respect, for her she had to be taught how to react in society without using violence. Cognitively this little girl had no idea what she was doing wrong, so her process of knowing was right from wrong was misleading by her parents. Her psychosocial development has been seriously tarnished because what she was taught was all violence, behavior is learned so she can also be learned how to react in society and properly adapt to the changes in her new life in this country.

I chose breastfeeding as my topic because this always freaked me out, I wanted to do it but was scared of how it would make me feel. I was young really did not look into to know the benefits of it. I wish I would have researched it more, I see their are really some great benefits that comes with breast feeding. One that really upsetting me is knowing that it easier to digest, my daughter had to try every formula on the shelf because she could not digest formula. I eventually was advised to try rice water which worked fine, but would have rather chosen breastfeeding if I would have just did my research not to mention all the brain benefits to go along with it.
I read about breastfeeding in South Africa and they spoke on how very few women decide to breast feed, in some health facilities they ask women to donate breast milk. I could not imagine feeding my child milk from another women. They also believed for the mothers that were HIV positive that they should not breastfeed in order not to transfer the disease to their child. But due to the increase of infants death and illness they wanted the mothers to breastfeed but with use of specific medication. At one point it was mandatory that the women of South Africa breastfed I will always make sure I keep some literature around to share with parents of whom children I am caring for, I want to let them know the benefits of doing so. I plan on giving birth at least once more, I know I will be scared and maybe uncomfortable but I would have to put that aside and do whats best for my child. https://youtu.be/7jIOprFOEMc I gave birth to my daughter Ja'La Harmon on 2-19-2004 she weighed 8 lbs and 11 oz she was 21 inches long, the nurses gloated over her being the biggest baby girl that they had delivered in a while. I was due to give birth on 2-11-2004 but my daughter had her own agenda. After being in labor for eight hours and she had actually passed feces in me the Doctor decided it was time for an emergency C-section. I was terrified but we had to move quickly, I received and epidural to numb me from the waist down. Being place in the operating room they allowed my mother to come in with me, they placed me on a table that allowed me to watch from a mirror that was placed right on top of the stomach area, I received the bikini cut that was a cut right across my pelvic area. I watch them cut my child out and them clean me and sew me back up, I also looked to my left and watch them suction all the mucous out of her mouth and nose and she began to cry that was my sign she was OK. They hooked her up to machines and did vitals and read test and I has a successful delivery with a healthy baby. I chose a birth in Uganda which was also a c-section, this birth was very similar to mind which that was a surprise i though it would be actually a lot worse. She also received an epidural to get none she was placed on a table she had no mirror to watch what was going on, and once the baby was born she was not breathing, they only had hand help equipment that was not strong enough to save her life, they got her to breath for only moments. with the equipment they had available someone would had to pump air into her lungs manually around the clock. I found out they do not have all the high end medical equipment that we do, and because of this baby and mothers death percentage is high due to this. As far as an insight I believe that there my not been much to do what with on in the womb to prevent the infant from having breathing problems, but it should had better equipment like a breathing machine vs just a hand held pump pressing air into her lungs manually, due to that reason that child did not survive. https://youtu.be/cxrlTepLUKo
